The changes she made in her own podcast when she started focusing on aligned energetics, the importance of being selective with your podcast guests, why she requires all of her guests to do a connection call with her before being on the show, how she handles it if that connection called doesn't go so well. And her advice for energetically aligning with your own podcast. Let's not waste any more time and go ahead and dive right on in with Emily Kay Thomas. Emily, thank you so much for being on the show. I am very excited to talk with you especially because literally seconds before coming on to this call. I went to go check out your website. One last time I like to you know refresh since I looked at things like when my guests apply. Because sometimes it can be a couple of weeks before we actually get to talk. And you had a pop up for a quiz on your website. And I couldn't resist myself. It's so pretty. Your website is so gorgeous. And so I took it and I got a result that said I was a determined powerhouse. Because as people know from listening in the bio, you deal with a lot of energetics and business. And I was reading through your explanation of like what determined powerhouses. And I am not kidding when I say that this was one of the most like spot on, you know, little like quiz result, things that I've ever gotten. So I can't speak for all of the options. But you definitely nailed that one and the quiz. I feel like absolutely got me to the right place, which just I think like sets up a great experience for everything else in your business like now I want to know more, because you've already nailed it. So good job on that. But for people listening, why don't you just kind of catch us up a little bit on just a brief description of your business beyond your bio, and the podcast that you have.

3:27

So I help intentional and really a lot of entrepreneurs who are and I hesitated on that, because I've been working with a lot of people that aren't necessarily entrepreneurs that just want to find relationships or to increase their financials and that kind of thing. But really, my focus is on entrepreneurs and helping them strategically scale and really elevate their business to the next level by using aligned energetics, business energetics. So what does that really mean? It means that each of us have a unique energetic framework. We all have unique energetic, what I call DNA, it's just like, you know, DNA that we all look different. We're all part of the human species, yes. But underneath that, if you peel it back and look granular, we're actually all some some different y'all have different skin color and different nail beds and different hair and different eyebrows. And similarly with our energy, it is very different. And therefore we have to uniquely do business or life different. So that might look like a different business model or a different sales strategy or a different marketing tactic. And in the context of relationships that might look like a different type of communication style. So when we're talking about you Brittany and you being a power house, you carry a specific and so this quiz really quick, the quiz itself On the website, gives you an idea of some of your energetic superpowers. Okay, I won't know for certain exactly what your recipe energetic recipe is, we'll use that. Because you have a bunch of different gifts until I go into your energetic profile and do some energetic research on your behalf, will I be able to give you specifics about who you are energetically, but is it self gives you a really, like you said, it's hits home for you because it is very specific to you, and what you're drawn to. So you're probably feeling really like it connected to you because it is you and you are a powerhouse. So what does that mean? So whenever I see people who have this energy as a main energetic component, what that really means is that you really value independence, that you can get so much done in a really small amount of time. So you can get done and half of a day is probably something that like, majority of the world can get done in two days.

6:05

That is absolutely 100% accurate, and especially the independent thing I am married, but you probably honestly wouldn't be able to tell it because we're both independent. And I we need it that way. Like that's how important it is. Yeah,

6:16

exactly. So a lot of people that I work with, are highly conscious like yourself. So you've come to the conclusion, you kind of found this out about yourself, because you're very self aware, right? Yes. So when I work with people like yourself, this work in general really does just attract very highly conscious people, which I'm so grateful for. But when we're looking at business business is a whole nother beast, right? Because, and I'll use the context of our podcasting, right. So when you are podcasting or building a business and connecting with other people through this outlet, it can get a little confusing at times, like, Oh, should I interview this person, because they are, you know, they get a lot of action and reviews and they seem like they would be a good fit. But you get caught up in the nitty gritty of of the metrics, that blocks out what really is in alignment for you. So it's really important to specifically in business, to understand that you can do things differently. So instead of like, let's say, I'm podcasting, like the typical format, is you record an intro, then you go into the brunt of the podcast, then you might have an ad in between, and then you have closing. But for whatever reason, something feels really like you want to put some music in the middle, or you want to have a rapid fire question at the beginning, or you want to, you know, have a debrief session in the beginning, or whatever it is, because that feels really aligned for you. Mm hmm. That's what we're talking about, by making things your own. And not necessarily just cutting and pasting these different methodologies from other people. But specifically, how can you make all of these different models your own, that is activating that unique energy within you. Because when you activate that what you're doing is essentially clearing a channel so that you receive vital force energy and that vital force energy is what's going to create the abundance and the joy and the health and the vitality that you're craving. So it's all about really leaning into who you are and choosing based off of what energy you are, how to activate that truth, whether it's podcasting, whether it's building a business, whether it's friendship, whether it's getting a relationship, it's really about knowing who you are, and making those conscious decisions to be in alignment for yourself.

8:52

Love it. Okay, I love all of that. And I would love to take this conversation at about 10 different directions. But let's talk about your podcast specifically, How has working in this aligned energetic way really helped you with your own podcast? And how does it fit into your current business?

9:10

You know, it's so such a good question. Because if we're talking about metrics, and we're talking about like, specific guests we should have on and the format's we should have our podcast outlined, then the way that I was doing it originally building my podcast was very to the book. Now that I've really started to manage my energy in the past couple years I've really worked on utilizing my unique energetic framework which is rooted in truth. And that truth needs to come through in everything that I do, to the extent of me activating truth in all of the people that I speak to nice Yeah, and also being so rooted in honesty, and having my guests show up and very honest, vulnerable. It was phase two. So to answer your question, I really weeded out like the fluff to be like thing. And also like, I am very selective on who I have on the show, just knowing that I need them to show up in their vibrancy and their authenticity, right. I know that a lot of people are authentic and very good people, I just need that extra energetic. of okay, I really walking my truth, and standing proud in that, and I'm powerful, and I'm ready to rock.

10:33

Well, and I love that too. Because just like you said it, you get people who are authentic, and they're great people, but maybe they've been a podcast guest on a ton of shows. And so at this point, now, their answers are almost automatic, you know, they go into their, their set responses, and they almost just kind of forget that they're having a real conversation with another human being rather than like just filling out a question and answer form. And so I love that you really focus on that, what does that look like for you, in terms of of weeding out those people in the beginning, are there like red flags that you look for? Because what I want you listening to understand is, even if you're not, you don't want to go this deep into it, where you know, everything is from a place of truth, you will find that if you can get those guests on that can be vulnerable, that can share things they've never shared anywhere else, no matter what topic you're talking about. Those episodes are almost always very powerful for your listeners. So Emily with you, how do you find those people in advance? Like what is it about the process that really lets you get these guests on your show. And then also what happens if you get someone who makes it through the process, you record your conversation, and you find that maybe it isn't quite as honest as you wanted it to be? This is

11:47

so so relevant right now. So Okay, a couple of things, I approach everything in my business and in my life, from a place of servitude and connection. So this show to me, is all about meeting somebody and really getting to know their story and connecting. And I genuinely mean that this is not just for me, like trying to get myself out there. And, of course, that's a nice byproduct. But really, it's really about meeting the other person and sitting across and hearing their story hearing how they walked through, you know, all of these tribulations to get where they are today. And so when you go about it without attitude, you kind of weed out the people that don't have that intention. The way I do that is like my genuine, genuine approach is to connect with people and be friends. So I actually reached out to people that I feel inspired by, and I set up a connection call. Now this connection calls a prerequisite to be on my show, because okay, it's exactly that it's me connecting with you. And if because I'm a reader of energy, if I feel like the energy is not really there, I will still you know, obviously want to connect with that person. But it goes through that filter of will I put them on my shelf right for my audience, because I value my audience in my community more than anything and love it, I want my you know interviewees to be a source of inspiration, and really provide value from a very pure and genuine space. And you know, your energy doesn't lie. So people that come on that, you know, are just have a one one agenda to like, promote themselves, like, I can see right through that. So I think it's really important for me, especially because there's a lot of people out there trying to get on the show, and I get pitched all the time. It's just, you know, it's all about really like, let's get past the metrics. Let's connect again, let's go back to basics. And let's see what's there. And if maybe it's not a good fit for my show, maybe it's a good fit down the line. You know what I mean? So right never know is just hey, like, let's see what fits perfect.

13:57

And so have you ever had anybody who you've had you've gone through that connection call with and for whatever reason, maybe they were having an off day, maybe they were stressed, the conversation just didn't quite sit right with you when it was over? Have you ever had that happen? Absolutely. How did you handle that?

14:14

You know, that this is such a good question, because I think we don't talk enough about like the other side, right, right now, everyone's so beautiful, and everyone has value and all this. But I think the reality is, is that you really do value the content that you put out there and you value your audience and know what your audience wants and can use, even though the information that you get might still be great. If it's not a good fit within your niche, it could just create more noise and confusion, which eventually actually ruins the show. Yes, you have enough of that. So in that situation, I have, you know not proceeded with giving them the link to book my show. Or what I'll do is if they still have value by It's not in alignment with like the exact show nomenclature, then I will actually just have them on my Instagram Live. Okay? I mean, I think it's really a nice way to have Instagram Live. And let's say they go on my Instagram Live and the conversation rocks, right? And you're like, Oh, well, maybe that would be a good episode, then I have my audio sample the audio, and we can still have them on the show, but at least they get a second chance. And you can always not post it if it's not a good episode or whatnot. But I bet it's another chance for you guys to connect even deeper and give them another opportunity to show up.

15:42

I do really like that strategy. Because I mean, again, life can happen. And so on that energy call, like that connection call, there could be any number of reasons that they're not able to fully be present or anything like that. So I do like this idea of kind of having this, this other type of conversation. And it's not like a consolation prize or anything. Like it's just another opportunity to connect again. So how does your podcast fit? In? In with your with your business? I mean, do you talk about your services on the show? Um, how does that really work?

16:16

Yeah, I mean, I think a lot of entrepreneurs might be able to relate to this, that as a solopreneur, or an entrepreneur, we are on this fast track to grow, right? Because you're confronting so many different things at once that it's like, oh, gosh, okay. If I was in my corporate career, that would have took me five years to get, right. But no, it took me a week. But the thing is, with my show, it's kind of grown with me. So in the beginning, it was really about just interviewing spiritual people. And then it moved into more business. And now it's really about blending of the two. So it's like a spiritual blend of really, how are you activating your light and your gifts? And how are you being your truest version while also being super successful? So I interview a lot of really successful entrepreneurs that have a modality and that are doing things different. So that's a key is like, I don't just interview like, oh, you make a million bucks, like, get on my show? It's great. How are you making it your own? How are you doing things different? And how can you? How can you instill that protocol in how your listeners are going to be able to activate their truth, even if it looks different than what what we're doing? Right? So like, right, giving them permission to be themselves. So for my business, it's always been like any episode that you listen to, it's all rooted in light. It's called Live Your light. So it's all about really that essence of being yourself and living from that space of truth. But that the seasons have changed, based off of where I'm directing my business at that point in my time. So it's always relevant. And it's always just about meant to be I

17:59

love it so much. So for the people listening to this right now, who have a podcast that maybe they feel like something is a little off, or they're starting one. And you know, they're listening to all the advice, and it just isn't quite sitting right with them. But they're like, Well, I can't change it. Now I you know, I've already put out 50 episodes of this show, what would be your advice for them to kind of start this process of figuring out what isn't sitting right with them and what they can tweak. And if it's even okay to tweak.

18:32

And this is, this is really cool. Because when we pretend like we are stuck, and like that we don't have any other options. That's when that's when we feel so disempowered, right, but I want you guys all to remember that you have the power to shift in any direction and change yourself and create from a new space that feels more aligned at any moment. So even if you've developed 300 shows out there and you want to change to being a hairstylist, power to you because people will still be super interested in and still grow from your path because all of those skills are transferable. And not only that, it's you can just create a new season of your show. I always encourage people to not be afraid of change. And in fact, embrace it with open arms because you have the opportunity to show and give others the permission to do the same. But also knowing who you are and honoring, honoring yourself. So if you're interested in learning which path is aligned for you, that's absolutely something I do in my work, helping you understand your unique energetic framework like you Brittany, and then how to make aligned decisions based off of your financial goals or your you know, other areas of goals that you are forecasting. I can help you tweak and adjust and help you get some new ideas to the table based off of your energetic framework. So that's another option to

19:58

love it. Well, thank you so much. Emily for coming on the show. This was a fantastic conversation, I could talk to you for hours. Hopefully it's not the last time we connect.
